Tràpani – Week 17
Transfer 7, Mission Week 47

Ciao!

I hope that everyone had a great week! This week we were able to have a few more lessons, but we are still working really hard to be able to find some more work right now. It was a great week though!

Monday we were able to go bowling with a friend of ours which went super well and it was a lot of fun. We were able to play pool too, which I haven’t played in so long so that was a blast. He is super cool and we were able to have a super good conversation with him afterwards and invited him to take the lessons. He said yes which was so awesome to us and we were super pumped up! We then got ready and did finding after that and it went super well! We had to make the decision to go left or right out of the apartment and we went left and ended up right away meeting someone that was in a hurry to the postoffice. We were doing the sondaggio on the scriptures, and he gave a quick response that didn’t show at first that he had much interest, but he was just in a hurry. He stuck around though and we talked for while and were able to get his number and an appointment with him which was super cool! We then kept going in finding and we ended up meeting that less active we had met by the stadium just two weeks prior in the exact same spot. It was super awesome and he asked for our number so it was super sick to be able to see those miracles that were happening that night. It is really amazing the things that Heavenly Father allows us to be a part of. We then finished off the night with a family home evening with a member family. We were able to have two lessons this week that went really well with one of our investigators. He is really intelligent and a super nice guy. He is a lot of fun to talk to, but we unfortunately can’t see him right now because he just expressed to us that he isn’t really ready to commit. Hopefully down the road the Anziani will be able to meet with him again and he will be ready then.

On Wednesday we were able to have the awesome opportunity to have a world wide missionary broadcast. It was super cool and really spiritually powerful being able to gain counsel from all the leaders that want to help us be better instruments in the Lord’s hands. I really hope to be able to take away what I learned and apply it to myself as a missionary and be better for the Lord and for Heavenly Father’s children. We definitely learned a lot from it. One thing that I like that Elder David A. Bednar talked about was the Holy Ghost in teaching. He is the teacher. We have to do all we can to set the best possible stage for the Spirit to be there with us. That is what teaches the investigator and we can help bring the Spirit unto their hearts, but we can’t force it in their to make them change. They have to allow it to enter in. It was a really good broadcast and I definitely enjoyed that opportunity we had. We received unfortunate news that our friend that we went bowling with isn’t really interested at this time to learn more. We really respect him for being completely honest with us though. He is still a great friend of ours and hopefully we will be able to grab lunch with him again next Monday or something.

We were able to have a lesson with the guy that we met on the street Monday evening and that went really well. It was a little longer than we normally have lessons, but it went well. He is very knowledgeable in the Bible and is interested in reading the Book of Mormon. We look forward to seeing where he goes and where his true desire is.

We had the awesome opportunity to be able to go over to a less active’s house this past week and it went really well! He is a super awesome guy and he speaks English so well. He also is amazing at the piano and plays it in a band which is sick. It was super awesome to be able to get over there and share a really powerful message of the Savior. He accepted the invite for us to come over and go through all the lessons too! It was so amazing.

I forget which night this week, but I woke up in the middle of the night and heard Anziano Spencer talking in his sleep. I was wondering what was going on at first and soon realized that he was doing street contacting in his sleep. I remember him saying, “Ciao! Come stai?” I was super tired so I was in one of those slap happy moods and I just started chuckling. I remember we exchanged words but have no clue what either of us said and then we went back to bed hahaha. It was super funny.

We were able to see a lot of families to continue to implement our member plan with them so that went really well this week as well! We are having a great time working down here in Tràpani and we are both really enjoying it a lot. Don’t know what will happen for transfer calls, but I really hope that I stay down here for one more transfer. This next one will be 5 weeks long and then we will go back to normal transfers again.

Something I enjoyed reading this morning with Anziano Spencer was in Alma 37:

44 For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land.

45 And now I say, is there not a type in this thing? For just as surely as this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.

46 O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepared for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us. The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever.

I love verse 46 because it talks about how easy it was for the the people that were in the wilderness with Moses to look towards the brass serpent on the staff, but yet still some of them perished because they didn’t do this simple thing. It is easy for us to look to the scriptures and we can be saved because they will tell us all things that we need to do. I am so thankful for that and the help the scriptures offer in our lives. I know that if we look to them daily we will find a greater abundance of that spirit in our daily lives. I love you all and hope that you all have a wonderful week!

Arrivederci!!!
