Roma 1 – Week 7
Transfer 2, Mission Week 13

Ciao Tutti!!!

This week has been fun and we saw a lot of really cool things happen to us!  Monday we had our p-day and it was a lot of fun.  We had the chance to eat lunch with Tony Oliver and his sister, which was a lot of fun and a good time.  It was super nice of them to get us lunch and spend a little time with us.  We had a great lunch and a great time talking.

We then went and had to go find a picture thing for Sorella Arnold, who was going home, and we had a good time hunting for one of those and running around to get it in time.  Those painting things that the people sell on the streets are actually really sweet.

We then ran back to the Metro and made it back to the Villa all while running into different missionaries along the way.  It was a really fun day and we got to see how packed the Villa was with the 23 missionaries going home.  It was a fun day.

We then went back and had a lesson with Alessandro.  He is super awesome.  We, unfortunately, didn’t get to meet with his wife because she was busy, but we hope that we can next time.  The lesson went really well and I can see a strong desire in him to draw closer to God.  Heavenly Father really blessed us this week with that miracle of Alessandro texting us and us getting the chance to talk with him. Roma 1 – Week 6
Transfer 1, Mission Week 12

Ciao!!

This week has been really nice and sorry I don’t have a ton of time to write today, but I will tell you about my week and what all we did.

Well last P-day was a lot of fun and we just walked around Rome and saw some things, since Sorella Arnold is headed back home this week from her mission.  We ate at Subway (which was really expensive for Subway), but it hit the spot for sure.  We then just went around to some other significant places and such and didn’t do anything too new, but I still love just getting to walk around.

We received a fair amount of biedones (where we get a lesson cancelled), but that is OK and we just keep on working.  A lot of our investigators are about the same as last week.  We only got to see a couple of them this week.  We saw Riccardo and he is just still struggling to find his faith and it’s hard.  We are trying our best to help him find it and understand that faith is action (Peter 2:17).  We have to have action to exercise our faith.  Without it we won’t receive testimonies or answers if we never pray and ask Heavenly Father.  He wants to hear from us and has so many blessings in store.  We just have to sincerely ask for them with real intent. Roma 1 – Week 1
Transfer 1, Mission Week 7

Buongiorno!!

I finally made it here in Rome!!  The last days at the MTC flew by so fast.  They were really just all a blur together honestly.  We had a really good Monday, though, and we just got to talk about Italy with our teachers and learn more about the investigators that they taught and such.  It was a lot of fun and we saw some really awesome pictures and some funny videos.  It really got me excited to be able to meet the people.  We also shared about what we learned the most or what aspect did we feel like we gained a stronger testimony of.  I really learned how to teach people and not lessons.  I was able to really learn we have to teach the people and fit the Gospel to their needs and make sure they are hearing what the Lord would want them to hear and have the Holy Ghost testify of that truth to them.

Fratello Gessel, Sorella Ansted, and Sorella Preston were super awesome.  I am so thankful for my teachers and all the help that they gave me and they really did help me learn the language as well as grow spiritually.

I woke at 2:00 the next morning to get ready to go and we went to the airport.  On the first flight to Chicago I talked to a member the whole 3 hours and it was really nice and we shared some stuff that we both liked to do, but we mainly talked about the Gospel.  He made a good point on how when we have the Book of Mormon we really are better able to understand the Bible.  He shared Isaiah 53:6 (“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”) and it is kind of hard to understand fully what that means.  Then when you cross reference that with Mosiah Chapter 14 we can really see more clearly what the Savior would do for us.  The Book of Mormon compliments the Bible so well and I have thought somewhat regarding to the two and how they both give us so much.  I think of the scripture in 2 Nephi 29:8 and it really shows that they are both testifying of Christ and I just really like that they both stand as witnesses to him.  It was a really great conversation and he also said that this wasn’t going to be easy and he said you probably won’t be doing it right if it is easy all the time. MTC – Week 3
Mission Week 3

Ciao!

I just hit halfway yesterday and man it really is flying by here. It feels like the days just take forever, but not in a bad way, really. Then when you look back, its hard to tell when you did stuff. Time is just super warped. This week was good though!  We continued to teach our investigators and we are really doing well I think.

The Italian is coming along nicely, but that isn’t what teaches the investigators.  It’s definitely the spirit that we bring in.  We continue to study Italian every day.  It gets overwhelming at times but it is really coming along nicely.

We had a substitute Monday because Fratello Gessel was sick and this [substitute] fratello gave us a challenge.  He said to try and have a better mission than he did.  He explained how he gave 100% in all that he did and that is what truly matters when we stretch ourselves and just give all the effort we can.  We will be able to know that we are getting the most success out of ourselves.  I decided there that I would truly just give everything I have, even if, at times, I think that is all I can do.  I want to be able to know that I did all I could to please the Lord with my service.

I set some new language goals so that was nice to be able to push  myself in the language because we have to give our best efforts before we can receive the gift of tongues.  It doesn’t just come with us waiting for it. [Read more…]

MTC – Week 2
Mission Week 2

Hey everybody!

I just hit my two week mark today and its really crazy because it doesn’t feel like it has been that long at all!   Time is super weird here.  It feels like forever, but all the days kind of blend together all the same.

This has been another nice and fun week. I have been able to keep up on my running and the food here hasn’t started to really bother me as there is a lot of variety so you can pick from an assortment of different things.

I forgot my journal in the room so I am going to have to go off memory on all that happened this week that is noteworthy to talk about.

The Italian has been coming along nicely.  It’s frustrating at times when you want to express something during a lesson but can’t for the life of you think of one word that is essential.  But the spirit helps you explain it in another way, which is awesome.   At times during the lessons I can see that I don’t remember, or even think I don’t know a certain word, and it will come to me in a different way or I will get a whole different way to explain things.  I have been working hard at trying to use Italian every day when not in the classroom and its hard sometimes but we try to use all the Italian we know then throw in English along with it.
